2nd Blockchain Forensics Forum in Belgrade

The event specifically focused on addressing and combating illicit activities within blockchain and decentralized systems

The second Blockchain Forensics Forum, a significant advancement in digital forensics and blockchain technology, concluded successfully in Belgrade from November 8th to 10th, 2023. Organized by the Digital Forensics Initiative – Archibald, and founded by Belgrade-based criminalist Stanoje Rnić, the event gathered over 200 delegates in the field of cybercrime combating, including government representatives, law enforcement, judiciary, prosecutors, and cybersecurity experts from the Southeast Europe and around the globe. The forum aimed to enhance digital forensics capabilities, particularly in the context of the increasing relevance of blockchain technology and decentralized finance in the field.

 

The forum commenced on November 8th with a “Dual Certification Program” in digital forensics, focusing on mobile devices, cryptocurrencies, and darknet markets providing essential skills to over 60 participants. The second day featured advanced blockchain forensics training by Chainalysis at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, specifically tailored for the Cybercrime Combating Service. The same day a notable “Digital Asset Seizure and Asset Recovery” session was held by the FBI and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security cybercrime experts at Tenderly, attended by law enforcement, judges and prosecutors from almost every Southeast European country.

 

Concluding on November 10th, the forum showcased keynotes, presentations and panel discussions on cybercrime investigation methodologies, Serbia’s role in Web3 and Blockchain, and AI integration in blockchain investigations. Engaging panel discussions with experts from Homeland Security, the FBI, the Italian State Police, Serbian MoI Cybercrime Combating Service and Ciphertrace by Mastercard and explored topics on  cryptocurrency forensics and the privacy in blockchain. The forum also saw participation from over 150 delegates including law enforcement officers, judges, and prosecutors from countries like Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Croatia, Sweden, Canada, Germany, Czech Republic, Sweden and many other emphasizing its broad impact.

 

Supported by the US Embassy in Belgrade, CipherTrace by Mastercard, Tenderly, Chainalysis, and others, the forum represented a major step in strengthening digital security and served as a platform for innovation and collaboration in blockchain technology and digital forensics. It highlighted the commitment of its speakers, organizers, and participants in addressing emerging digital threats.
